Office Electrical Installation at Harbour Exchange, Canary Wharf

Summary
Client: Mi-Bi (Mi Business Interiors) for Virtuoso IT (main client).
This project was an office relocation in Harbour Exchange, Canary Wharf, London.
Full office electrical installation of one large open plan office space, split into individual meeting rooms and offices, with one main open plan office area and one small kitchenette.
This required new sockets into floor boxes fed from an ‘Electrak’ power track bus-bar system. Floor boxes to have data cables (CAT5e/CAT6) fitted and run back to main exchange data cabinet. 16 4K-LED light tvs were mounted on walls, with all cabling hidden, and HDMI connections from desk positions to the tvs.
Kitchenette electrics consisted of double-sockets on worktop, sockets in cupboards, low level sockets for appliances, with multi-gang isolation switches.
Brief
- Electrical power for offices’ desk floor boxes plus fitted sockets
- Data for offices in floor boxes to be run back to main cabinet
- Power for security alarm and fire alarm systems
- Power for Data Communications room (CAT6)
- Wall-mount 16 LED flat screen tvs around office space
- Install HDMI connections from TVs to desks
- Testing and NICEIC certification upon completion
Delivery
The project had a firm fixed completion date of 2 weeks from start to finish/sign-off. The project was completed fully with all objectives met including additional works agreed during the installation, prior to this deadline.
Points of note
- New floor sockets fed from ‘Electrak’ suspended floor power track, with all relevant plugs and wiring flush-mounted
- New CAT5e/CAT6 wiring from floor sockets to data cabinet
- TV installation with LED flat screen TV’s mounted in a pattern of 4 in a square
- Liaison with main project management team to ensure works on schedule and budget due to additional works required
- Liaison with main client where items to be installed so as they can get best use from them
- Liaison with main partitioning contractors to ensure all wiring was ahead of schedule so as to not hold up any other trades
- Liaison with air-conditioning installers for sizing, quantities and positioning of required feeds; fitting in time for air-con installation and commissioning
- Liaison with fire alarm and security alarm installers for positions and amount of feeds required and installation
